Description:
Discover this sublime riverfront resort where guests or retreat attendees can contemplate the beauty of the rainforest from the comfort of their bed, to read a favorite book on a hanging deck, or perhaps to take an open-air shower under a glimmering starry night sky. This is the ultimate sensory experience! Awaken to the call of a toucan, the cry of a howler monkey, turning you into a privileged spectator of the wonderful surroundings. The original creative vision has been for the resort as a whole to encourage contemplation and spiritual delight. To induce tranquillity and solace; meditation and relaxation.
Discover the aborigine legacy in the resort, evident in the architecture of the ranch, which resembles pre-Columbian structures of the Borucas, a former chiefdom of the region. The construction has been designed by architects specialized in Contemporary Tropical Architecture, who focus on low impact projects and proven concepts of sustainability. Further sustainable efforts include the use of biodigesters and biogardeners to process sewage waste, use of biodegradable cleaning products and the pool is saltwater. Therefore, each detail has been thought out to respond to such concepts. The property has obtained the certificate of touristic sustainability from the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT), given to businesses whose operation follow a sustainable model of natural, social and cultural resource management.
Each bungalow is built on stilts; the rooftops are rhomboid in shape, high, slanted and with ample eaves. On the upper part of the walls, screens ease natural ventilation and also allow the sounds of the surroundings to come inside, day and night (Ex. the running stream, the rainforest animals, the rainfall and thunder, and much more). Ventilation is aided with a ceiling fan and a dehumidifier.
Maximizing the use of natural lighting is also a key practice. The ample glass walls and doors have been designed to efficiently bring natural light into the bungalow, but at the same time, they provide the sensation that you are outside close to nature. To achieve this goal but still give privacy, there is plenty of natural (plants) and artificial barriers too (blinds, shower curtains, frosted glass). All bungalows are equipped with wireless WIFI, reading lamps, mini-fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, wine glasses, waiters corkscrew, thermal flask, small cooler, hair dryer, drying rack and laptop size safe.
The names of the bungalows (Brunka, Cabécar, Maleku and Teribe) correspond to various aboriginal tribes from Costa Rica. Two bungalows have a rainforest / garden views, an outdoor deck with a table and a bench and are equipped with a king-sized bed, a sofa, a ceiling fan, and a bathroom featuring an indoor rainfall shower and an open-air shower surrounded by an innovative fence. The third bungalow shares all the same features, however, is equipped with ample doorways to accommodate disabled persons. The fourth bungalow has a queen-sized pull-out or trundle bed in addition to the King bed which increases the sleeping capacity to 4, however this unit does not have a private deck or outdoor shower.
The communal facilities, also equipped for disabled persons, include the incredible reception/dining hall, a salt-water swimming pool, a massage room, gardens and dedicated parking space. Held together by thick wooden beams, the Satu Ranch (reception/dining hall) prides itself in being the emblem of the lodge. Its design is a modern take on the circular houses of the pre-Columbian ‘Boruca’ aborigines. Housed within are the reception, a reading area, kitchen and the dining hall, which is equipped with a free wireless Internet connection.
The saltwater swimming pool resembles a small lagoon of irregular shape, conceived as such to harmonize with the surroundings. Tropical plants frame the pool providing a lovely backdrop for moments of relaxation.
The resort has a history of profitable performance and glowing reviews from all platforms; booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, Tripadvisor, Facebook and Google Business. The assets of these online sites and business financials will be shared and passed on to you, from the delightful retiring owners, to ensure a smooth transition.
